Manual for the Chopard
Grand Prix de Monaco
Historique
Time Attack MF

In 2010, Chopard released the Time Attack MF as part of its Grand Prix de Monaco Historique line. This "super quartz" certified chronograph was an unusual release at the time and remains an unusual part of the line. To my knowledge, Chopard has never repeated or rereleased a watch like it.

Those of us who love this watch, know there is one downside: battery death and replacement. At first I was sending it back to Chopard for replacement at $80 a pop. However, in the intervening 13 years since I bought it, I now have the horological equipment and experience necessary to open the watch, replace the battery, and maintain its water resistance.

The most difficult part of the battery change is resetting the time and having the analog hands and digital display synched. If you have the specific Time Attack MF instructions (pdf at right) the process is detailed accurately and completely within the manual. All of the functions are explained very well also.
